Master Walker!

Despite the [pandemic] circumstances, 2021 started off strong with wonderful external reviews on Leah Walker's MSc thesis "All fired up: A long-term fire history of the coastal boreal forest

of Newfoundland, Canada". Leah used soil charcoal to identify tree species and then carbon date them to dig into the long-term (Holocene) fire regime of Terra Nova National Park. Leah's findings will directly inform Terra Nova's fire management planning. To say we were excited as each carbon date came in would be a gross understatement. The oldest piece: a 7600 year old balsam fir. Wowowowow. Congratulations, Leah Walker, MSc!
