Huge congrats to Dr. Lucas Brehaut, the first Northern EDGE Lab PhD! Lucas put together a fantastic thesis on "Subarctic ecosystem resilience under changing disturbance regimes", with studies from the scale of microsite climate experiences by an individual seedling, to population-level responses to compounding disturbances (fire + fuelwood harvesting) to a collaborative study on predispersal seed predation spanning the Canadian subarctic treeline. Lucas directly studied treeline sites in both Yukon and Nunatsiavut. Geography, much? Check out Lucas' first two paper's on the lab's Publications page, and stay tuned for more to come.
